Join the club
Signing up takes two steps for most groups, and they happen in two different places. Neither takes long, and you only do them once a season. (Little Hawks is step 1 only.)

Because the money goes to two different organisations. Club dues fund our program. The USA Wrestling membership is a national membership that insures your wrestler on the mat and lets them enter sanctioned tournaments, which is why clubs across the country require it. Wrestlers in grades 1–12 need both.
Little Hawks is the exception. It is a five-week introductory program and high school fundraiser rather than a USA Wrestling season, so pre-K through 2nd grade families only do step 1.

Done with step 1?
Elementary, Middle School and High School wrestlers go on to step 2 — join our USA Wrestling club. Paying dues alone does not make your wrestler eligible to compete.
Little Hawks families are finished. Little Hawks is a five-week introductory program and high school fundraiser rather than a USA Wrestling season, so there is no membership to buy and nothing else to do.

Create your account and add your wrestler
You will make a USA Wrestling account under the parent or guardian's name, then add your child as an athlete underneath it. Families with more than one wrestler add each child to the same account — do not create separate logins.
Choose the membership and finish checkout
Select the athlete membership option for the season. This fee goes to USA Wrestling, not to us — it covers your wrestler's insurance and makes them eligible to compete in sanctioned events.
Both steps done? That is it — now just show up
Once you have paid dues and joined the USA Wrestling club, come to the next practice for your wrestler's age group. Check the schedule for days and times. No need to email us first, though you are welcome to.
Before your first practice: the wrestling room is in the athletic building north of the high school, not inside the school itself — here is exactly how to find it.
What it costs

Which USA Wrestling membership do I buy?
There are two options and you only need one. The $20 limited folkstyle membership covers folkstyle — the style wrestled in our club season and at local winter tournaments. That is all most of our wrestlers need.
The $65 full athlete membership adds freestyle and Greco-Roman, which you need for the spring season and for national events. If you are not sure, start with the $20 and ask a coach — you can upgrade later if your wrestler wants more.
How the sibling discount works
Register each child individually. Your first athlete pays full price, and every additional athlete uses the sibling discount. If you have wrestlers in different groups, pay full price for the older one (high school) and use the sibling discount for the younger one.

Cost should never be the reason a kid does not wrestle
We have scholarship spots and loaner gear every single season. Email jacob.salazar@wasatch.edu and just say you would like to talk about the fee. That is the entire process, and it stays between you and the coach.
What to bring
Do not buy anything before the first practice. Seriously — come in gym clothes and see if your kid likes it first.
First practice: bring only this
- Athletic shorts and a t-shirt No zippers, buttons, pockets, or drawstrings — they catch fingers and scratch mats.
- A water bottle Labelled with your wrestler's name.
- Clean socks, and shoes for walking in Street shoes never go on the mat. Wrestlers walk on in socks or bare feet.
Once they are sticking with it
- Wrestling shoes Light, flexible, mat-only. Buy true to size — not a size up to "grow into."
- Headgear Protects the ears. Required for competition, and strongly recommended for practice.
- Knee pad Optional, but most wrestlers end up wanting one.
- Singlet or fight shorts Only needed once your wrestler competes. We loan club singlets — do not buy one.
Two rules that matter more than gear
Fingernails cut short, every practice. This is the number one cause of
scratches in a wrestling room.
Shower after practice, and do not share towels. It is how mat-borne skin
infections get prevented. We disinfect the mats, and the other half of the job happens
at home.
Stuck on the signup?
Why do I need a USA Wrestling membership at all?
It is what makes your wrestler insured on the mat and eligible to enter sanctioned tournaments. Every legitimate club in the country requires it. The fee goes to USA Wrestling directly, not to us.
Can I register more than one child?
Yes. Sign in to a single parent account and add each wrestler as a separate athlete underneath it. Do not create a second login for a second child — it causes problems at tournament check-in later.
I registered but never got a confirmation email.
Check spam and any promotions folder first. If it is genuinely missing, sign back in to your USA Wrestling account — your membership card and number are visible on the athlete's profile whether or not the email arrived.
Can we start mid-season?
Yes, and people do it every year. Wrestling is taught in positions rather than in a strict sequence, so a wrestler joining in week six is not hopelessly behind. Come to a practice and we will place them.
What if we sign up and my kid hates it?
That happens, and it is fine. Talk to a coach before you decide — nine times out of ten it is one specific thing (a drill, a partner, nerves about live wrestling) that we can fix in a week. If it is genuinely not their sport, no hard feelings and the door stays open.
